The history of DeLorean Motor Company, 40 years long, shows us all how not to run a business. Back in 1985, after the release of the film "Back to the Future", the demand for DeLorean DMC-12 cars formed on the market. But in a strange way, the company went bankrupt. And in general, was engaged in the restoration of other cars.

 

And now, after 40 years, a smart person who knows how to make money came to power in the DeLorean Company. This is Joost de Vries. A person who up to this point worked at Karma and Tesla. Apparently, the company is waiting for big changes.

With regards to the DMC-12 model. In the foreseeable future, we will certainly see this car in the original bodywork. But now, the company offers a more modern solution. The DeLorean Alpha5 electric car is very reminiscent of a car from the future. It can be seen that professionals have worked on the design. And technically, the car has very great prospects:

 

• Batteries with a capacity of 100 kWh give a power reserve of about 500 km.
• Car acceleration to 100 km / h in just 3 seconds.
• The maximum speed is 250 kilometers per hour.

The body of the DeLorean Alpha5 has the same type of door mechanism as the DMC-12. Only now, instead of two seats, as many as 4 chairs. Whether this is good or bad is up to the future owner to decide. Which, by the way, should pay 100 US dollars for the novelty.

 

DeLorean Alpha5 - what to expect for an electric car

 

The owner of the business has ardently invested in the novelty and is sure of success. After all, this is a really beautiful and technically attractive car. Plus, it's a DeLorean. The brand will surely have fans who want this car in their collection. But these are the assumptions that Joost de Vries operates with. Automotive market experts have a completely different opinion:

 

• DeLorean fans want the DMC-12. And the novelty Alpha5, except for the design of the doors, is nothing like the legend.
• And the car looks like Porsche and Tesla. And slightly on Audi and Ferrari.
• The price is clearly too high. It's easier to buy an Audi from a new series of electric cars. At least there are breakdown statistics.
• And for the fans. Those guys who dreamed about the DeLorean DMC-12 are already 50-80 years old. And young people, for the most part, do not even know about the film "Back to the Future".

It turns out that the new DeLorean Alpha5 is a “black box”. A lot of resources have been invested in the electric car. But there is no guarantee that the novelty will become a bestseller. No matter how the legend repeats the “success” of McLaren, which decided to squeeze a piece of the pie from Lamborghini Governance and Porsche Cayenne. As they say, let's wait and see.
