Germany took a step towards supporting smartphone owners

Germans know how to count money and try to spend it rationally. This was the primary reason for the registration of a new law to impose obligations on smartphone manufacturers. Germany has issued a statement on mandatory support for smartphones by manufacturers for 7 years. So far, this is all only in theory. But a step in the right direction has been taken. Residents of the European Union met the proposal positively.

Germany insists on long lifespan of smartphones

In Germany, household appliances and cars are produced that demonstrate reliability and durability. Any German brand is associated with impeccable quality. So why users have to change smartphones every 2-3 years - the Bundestag wondered. Indeed, in the era of mobile phones and PDAs, equipment worked freely for 5-6 years. And the famous Blackberry and Vertu phones are still functional (over 10 years).

Definitely, smartphone makers are simply stuffing their pockets with money. So convenient - I released a smartphone, after 2-3 years I stopped supporting it. And immediately an updated version. Business is good. But it must be mutually beneficial for the seller and the buyer. And today's smartphones do not bring financial benefits to owners at all.

This applies not only to software, but also to spare parts. The US has already passed a repair law - how much outrage there was from Apple. This is what a blow to sales. A person can repair a smartphone, and not run to the store for an updated version. And Germany insists on a similar implementation of the law in the European Union. This decision is for the benefit of zealous Germans, and indeed all people of the World who are not chasing new technologies.

DigitalEurope insists on its position

The smartphone market leaders merged into DigitalEurope, which includes Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Google, have different point of view... The organization insists on 3-year support for smartphones and the availability of batteries and screens for its equipment in specialized service centers. This policy even now causes negative feedback from users. After all, repairs in a corporate service center are several times more expensive than in private workshops.

And screens with batteries, according to statistics, are not as important as speakers, connectors and chipsets, which are more likely to break. By the way, through the fault of the manufacturer - they did not apply thermal paste there, they did not solder it well. And the end consumer suffers.

I really want Germany to push through this law throughout the European Union. This will be a wonderful incident for the whole World. Other continents and countries will quickly be able to implement a similar law on their territory.
