Anker Laptop Charger Pro: 100W Charger With a Screen and Battery Care Mode Launches 22 October

Ноутбук на рабочем столе подключён к зарядке

Anker has set 22 October as the worldwide launch date for the Laptop Charger Pro. It is a wall charger rated at up to 100 W, with a single USB-C port, a small screen and features meant to protect your laptop battery. The device was originally due on 17 September, but the launch slipped, and the company is currently running an early access period.

What we know about the new charger

The Laptop Charger Pro looks like an ordinary compact adapter, except for the display on the casing. It shows how many watts are going into your device, the charger’s temperature and the charging speed. When idle, the screen can double as a tiny digital photo frame: Anker lets you upload your own picture as wallpaper.

There is one USB-C port and a maximum output of 100 W. That is enough for most ultrabooks and MacBooks, tablets and phones. According to Anker, the charger takes a laptop to 50% in about 30 minutes. The real figure depends on the model, of course, since many lightweight laptops will not accept more than 45 or 65 W.

Auto and Care modes

The headline feature is not the screen but the way the charger manages charging. It recognises the connected laptop and adjusts its profile to that specific model, and it works with both Windows laptops and Macs. There are two modes:

  1. Auto Mode for everyday use, when you simply want to top up quickly;
  2. Care Mode for people who work plugged in most of the time and want the battery to hold its capacity for longer.

MacBooks get a charge limit: the battery can be capped at 80% so it does not sit at 100% all day. Anker claims this approach can extend laptop battery life by up to 40%. That is the manufacturer’s own estimate, and there is no independent testing yet. The company promises to expand the list of supported devices through free firmware updates.

Release date and price

Early access opened on Anker’s website on 15 October and runs until 21 October inclusive, Pacific time. Official sales begin at 00:00 Pacific time on 22 October, which is 08:00 in the UK.

In Europe the standard version is listed at €59.99. Anker has not yet confirmed US pricing, although a limited Valorant-themed edition is already on sale on Amazon for $59.99. The regular model will come in two colours.

Anker promises perks for early buyers: a cable organiser for the first thousand orders, double AnkerCredits points and a warranty extended by 6 months. Students can get 15% off after verification through Student Beans.

What it means for buyers

Chargers with screens are nothing new; big brands and small Chinese makers have offered them for a while. What is new is that the adapter takes care of your laptop battery. Charge limits are usually set in the operating system or through a manufacturer’s utility, and plenty of laptops have no such option. If Care Mode works as Anker promises, it is a convenient way to get a similar effect without installing any software.

Who should take a closer look:

  1. people who keep their laptop on a desk, plugged in for most of the day;
  2. MacBook owners who want a clear 80% limit built into the charger itself;
  3. anyone who wants to see the real power draw, check the charging speed and spot a failing cable.

Who can afford to wait: if you need to charge a laptop and a phone at the same time, a single port will be a limitation. On top of that, UK pricing has not been announced, and €59.99 for a one-port adapter is noticeably more than popular GaN chargers on AliExpress cost. A sensible approach is to wait for the first reviews that test Care Mode on a range of laptops.

Alternatives and add-ons

If battery care is not essential and you just want a compact, powerful adapter, AliExpress has popular models that sell by the thousand. We picked GaN chargers from well-known brands, plus the cable you need to actually get 100 W.

Baseus Mini 100W GaN

The closest alternative on power: a compact 100 W Baseus charger with a USB-C output. It suits a laptop, an iPad and a phone. This is a recent model from the brand’s official store, and it has already sold several thousand units.

Toocki 67W GaN with digital display

If the screen is what appeals to you, look at Toocki. This 67 W charger has a digital display and supports PPS, PD and QC4.0. The power is enough for most ultrabooks, the MacBook Air, tablets and phones, and it costs a fraction of the new Anker. It has no battery management features; the display simply shows charging parameters.

Baseus USB-C 100W cable

A detail people often forget: to get 100 W, the cable has to support that power too. Many cables are rated for only 60 W, and your laptop will charge more slowly. The Baseus cable, rated at 5 A and 100 W, is inexpensive and among the bestsellers on AliExpress.

In short

The Anker Laptop Charger Pro is interesting not for its power but for its smart charge management and a screen with real numbers. Sales start on 22 October, and the European price is €59.99. If you do not need the battery-care mode, Baseus, UGREEN and Toocki offer comparable power for less, and any 100 W charger deserves a matching cable from the start.
