DJI Osmo Pocket 4P in Pearl White launches 20 October: what we know and cheaper alternatives

Today, 20 October, DJI is launching the Osmo Pocket 4P in a new Pearl White colour worldwide. The launch is set for 12:00 GMT, which is 13:00 in the UK. In a teaser on YouTube, the company describes it as a pocket cinema camera on a gimbal with two lenses. The white version has the same internals as the black one, which has been on sale since the summer. Only the body and its coating have changed.

What is launching today

The Osmo Pocket 4P was unveiled in China in June, and over the summer it reached Europe, Canada and Australia. Chinese buyers got the white version first: it has been on sale there since 16 September at 3,799 yuan for the standard kit. Now it is the rest of the world’s turn, with one exception: the US. The Pocket 4P and Pocket 4 pages on DJI’s American site return a 404 error, and the “Notify me” button under the teaser leads nowhere for US visitors. The reason is known: since 22 December 2025 DJI has been on the FCC’s Covered List, so its new devices cannot get authorisation for legal sale in the country.

For buyers in the UK and Europe, this means something simple: there is now a choice of colour here, not just in China.

How the white version differs from the black one

According to the Chinese outlet IT Home, the handle and gimbal housing are covered with a pearlescent, mica-based layer. It contains no metallic flakes, and the shade shifts softly with the light and viewing angle. The same source says the coating resists fingerprints and dirt, which matters for white gear, since light plastic tends to look worn quickly in a pocket or bag.

There are no other differences. It is the same 4P with all its features, so choosing between the colours comes down to taste.

Osmo Pocket 4P specifications

The model’s main feature is two cameras instead of one. The main camera uses a 1-inch sensor with LOFIC technology, a 20 mm equivalent focal length and an f/2.0 aperture. The second is a telephoto: a 1/1.28-inch sensor, 60 mm equivalent, f/1.8. It gives 3x optical zoom, and digital zoom goes up to 12x.

  1. Video: up to 4K at 60 frames per second, slow motion up to 4K at 240 fps, 10-bit recording and the D-Log2 colour profile. The dynamic range is rated at 17 stops.
  2. Photo: 37 MP and a panorama mode.
  3. Stabilisation: a mechanical three-axis gimbal with intelligent subject tracking.
  4. Screen: a rotating 2-inch touchscreen with peak brightness up to 1,000 nits.
  5. Sound: three built-in microphones.
  6. Storage: 103 GB built in, plus a microSD slot for cards up to 1 TB.
  7. Battery: 1,545 mAh, up to 210 minutes of use, charging from zero to 80% in about 18 minutes and to full in around 32 minutes.
  8. Connectivity and weight: dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth LE 5.4, weight 230 g.

How much it costs

At the time of writing, DJI has not announced UK pricing for the white version. The black model gives a guide: the standard kit costs £529 and the extended Vlog Combo £605. In China the white and black versions are sold at the same price, so a serious premium for the colour seems unlikely, but the final figures will only be known once sales begin.

What this means for buyers

If you have had your eye on the Pocket 4P and held off because the black body looked too severe, today gives you a reason to revisit it. Technically the camera remains one of the most versatile pocket models: a big sensor for indoor and evening shooting, a telephoto for portraits and details, long battery life and plenty of built-in storage.

It is worth being realistic about what you need, though. Around £530 for a kit is a serious sum. If you make social media clips once a week, a good smartphone paired with a stabiliser, a microphone and a tripod will cover most situations for far less money. The Pocket 4P comes into its own for people who shoot a lot: on trips, at events, for a blog where zoom, steady sound and quick operation without fiddly setup matter.

One more practical point. The white version is no better than the black one in what it can do, so if colour is not important, compare the final kit prices and pick whichever is cheaper at the time you buy. It is worth watching prices for a couple of weeks ahead of the November sales.
