Manufacturers have published their Android 17 rollout schedules, and for many phone owners the update has already arrived or will within weeks. OnePlus, OPPO and realme began rolling out ColorOS 17 on 29 and 30 October, vivo and iQOO are releasing OriginOS 7 for their flagships, Samsung is still pushing out One UI 9, and Xiaomi has so far revealed a schedule only for China. We pulled the dates by brand from Gizchina and Nokiamob roundups published on 30 October and worked out what it means for buyers.

How it started: Pixels got Android 17 back in the summer
Google released Android 17 on 16 June, and Pixel phones received it straight away, with no drawn-out waves. Supported models start with the Pixel 6: the Pixel 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 lines, including the a, Pro and Fold versions, plus the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. To check for the update, open Settings, then System, then software updates.
Other manufacturers traditionally lag by a few months because they have to adapt their own software skins. That work is now reaching the finish line, which is why the end of October became the moment for mass releases.
OnePlus: ColorOS 17 replaces OxygenOS, with a schedule running into 2027
The big news for OnePlus fans is that on supported devices ColorOS 17 replaces the familiar OxygenOS. Both roundups give the same schedule:
- 29 October: OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4 tablet.
- 30 October: OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s.
- November: OnePlus Open, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 12 and Nord 6.
- December: OnePlus 11, OnePlus 12R, Nord 5 and several tablets.
- First quarter of 2027: Nord 4 and other budget models.
That means even the OnePlus 11, released several years ago, will get the new system before the end of the year. For owners of older models, it is a good reason not to rush into replacing their phone.
OPPO and realme: the same ColorOS 17, similar timing
OPPO starts with its flagships: the Find X9 series and the foldable Find N6 get the update first. According to Nokiamob, their rollout began on 29 October, and on 30 October they were joined by the Find N5, Find X8, Find X8 Pro and the Reno16 series. The remaining Find, Reno and K models will get ColorOS 17 in November and December.
At realme, ColorOS 17 also replaces the company’s own Realme UI. The GT 8 Pro series updates first, followed by the GT 7 Pro and realme 16 Pro. The rollout for other models will run through December and into the first quarter of 2027.
vivo and iQOO: OriginOS 7 for flagships right now
The first wave of OriginOS 7 covers the vivo X300 series, the foldable vivo X Fold 5 and the iQOO 15. In November it is the turn of the X200 series and a few more iQOO models, while some older phones will wait until early 2027. Nokiamob adds that vivo’s overall plan runs until the end of February 2027.
Samsung, Xiaomi, Nothing and Motorola
Samsung
The company has still not published a full One UI 9 schedule. Even so, many Galaxy phones, from flagships to the mid-range, have already received the update, and new devices are being added in stages. If your phone is still waiting, that is normal: Samsung traditionally rolls out versions in waves, country by country.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi has published a schedule for China only. The first wave started on 15 October and included the Xiaomi 17 series, the Redmi K90 series and the Xiaomi Pad 8 tablets. Other Xiaomi and Redmi phones will get the update in November and December. According to Nokiamob, the next stage in China, from 31 October, covers the Xiaomi 16 series and Redmi K80. Timing for the global versions sold in the UK and Europe is not yet known, and they usually arrive later than the Chinese ones.
Nothing and Motorola
Nothing started with the Phone (3). In November the Phone (4a), Phone (3a) and Phone (2a) will update, and some CMF devices will get the new system in January 2027. Motorola has not yet shown a full Android 17 calendar.
What this means for buyers
Both roundups warn that these are planned windows, not guaranteed dates. Timing can differ by country and by exact model, so your notification may arrive days or weeks later than a neighbour’s with the same phone.
If you are choosing a new phone, pay attention to how quickly the brand delivers updates. Chinese manufacturers have improved noticeably: OnePlus, OPPO and realme began their rollouts at the same time, and schedules stretch all the way into 2027. That means even models two or three years old are still getting a current system.
Before installing a major update, do three simple things. First, back up your photos, contacts and chats. Second, charge the phone and keep it plugged in while the update installs. Third, free up storage, because the update package and unpacking take several gigabytes. If you do all this in advance, the move to the new version should go without surprises.
What to get ready for the update
For a stress-free update, three inexpensive and very popular AliExpress accessories come in handy: a fast charger, a high-capacity power bank as a backup, and a USB-C flash drive for your backup.
Baseus 45W GaN charger
A compact gallium nitride adapter with a USB-C port and 45 W output, from the official Baseus store. The seller lists compatibility with the iPhone 17, 16 and 15 as well as Samsung Galaxy phones. That is enough power to top up your phone quickly before installing the update and, if needed, a tablet too. It is currently £13.72, down from £31.66.

The Android 17 update is free, and for most recent phones it has already arrived or will before the end of the year. The money is better spent not on a new phone but on a few small items that make the switch safe.
