According to analytics from the Canalys research center, in 2022, manufacturers shipped 49 million wearable gadgets from their warehouses. The list of devices included both smartwatches and fitness trackers. Compared to 2021, this is a 3.4% increase. That is, demand has grown. However, noticeable changes are occurring in the preferred brand choices.
Changes Are Happening in the Smartwatch Market
The leadership in the global market is held by Apple. And this is considering that the owner needs an iOS smartphone (iPhone). In other words, another conclusion can be made – Apple products are at the peak of popularity. But further down the ranking, there are visible changes:
- Huawei smartwatches moved from 3rd to 5th place in the table. Judging by owner reviews, the reason is the inflated price of gadgets. Despite the abundance of features, design and autonomy, buyers are not willing to pay for such an expensive wearable device.
- Xiaomi has also lost its positions. Interestingly, the reason is not the price. Chinese products are often in the budget segment. The problem is related to the lack of new technologies. Year after year, Xiaomi releases identical bracelets that differ in appearance but do not bring anything new. Plus, the company has not solved the software issue in five years. The applications have limited settings and cannot maintain a stable Bluetooth signal.
- Over the past six months, Samsung has managed to increase sales and reach 2nd place in popularity. Indeed, the South Korean giant has started producing cool smartwatches. And despite the high price, the gadgets are interesting to buyers worldwide.
- A new player has entered the TOP-5 – the Indian brand Noise. These guys have combined all known technologies and integrated them into wearable gadgets. And the cherry on top is the extremely low price. If the manufacturer does not overcharge, they have every chance to displace Chinese smartwatches and fitness trackers from the market.
Among the outsiders, the companies OPPO and XTC are noted. It cannot be said that manufacturers produce inferior products. The issue lies in marketing. Little is known about these brands to potential buyers. Although, in terms of functionality, some models are better than Samsung’s counterparts. Company management needs to completely revise their advertising policies. Otherwise, reaching the TOP will be difficult.
