The Chinese quadcopter manufacturer DJI has listened to user requests regarding improved shooting quality and ease of control. The new DJI Mini 3 Pro will delight fans with an upgraded camera. The modernization affected not only the optics but also the sensor. Additionally, the drone is more efficiently equipped in terms of control. Overall, buyers have several configuration options available, which is very convenient.
DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone – Shooting Quality
The main advantage of the quadcopter is its 48-megapixel CMOS sensor with a 1/1.3-inch lens. The pixel size is only 2.4 μm. This guarantees image quality even at high altitudes.
The lens aperture is F/1.7, and the focal length is 24 mm. The sensor has a software-boosted ISO, ensuring shooting quality in low-light conditions. The manufacturer claims the ability to shoot videos in formats:
- 4K at 60 frames per second.
- 4K HDR at 30 frames per second.
- Full HD at 120 frames per second.
It is important to note that the color depth of the video is 8 bits, not 10 bits. On the other hand, the new DJI Mini 3 Pro supports filter installation, suitable for both video and photo shooting. Zoom functionality during video recording is also possible, with different capabilities for each mode. For example, in 4K, the zoom is 2x, and in Full HD, it is 4x.
Video compression is handled by H.264 and H.265 codecs at speeds up to 150 Mbps. Naturally, storage media supporting such recording speeds are required.
DJI Mini 3 Pro Equipment and Configuration
The assembled construction weighs only 249 grams. The maximum flight time on a single battery charge is 34 minutes. The manufacturer recommends using the Intelligent Flight Battery, with the option to use the heavier Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, extending flight time up to 47 minutes.
The gimbal on the drone can rotate 90 degrees, allowing vertical shooting if needed. Sensors for obstacle detection are installed around the entire perimeter of the device, ensuring the drone’s integrity during flight even with inexperienced handling.
There is an APAS 4.0 function, which allows plotting a route for the drone, setting flight trajectories, and shooting modes. The DJI O3 function provides wireless video transmission from the drone to the user at distances up to 12 kilometers.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro drone can be purchased in the following configurations:
- OEM format quadcopter available at $669.
- DJI Mini 3 Pro with RC-N1 remote control costs $759.
- Model with a 5.5-inch LCD screen costs $909.
Additional “Fly More” kits for the DJI Mini 3 Pro are available at $189. They include Intelligent Flight Batteries, propeller sets, chargers, and a carrying case. There is also a “DJI Mini 3 Pro Fly More Kit Plus” accessory set, which, judging by the name, includes higher-capacity batteries. The price for this set is $249.
