The age of perfect technologies has not only simplified our lives but also imposed its own rules. This applies to everything. Any gadget makes life easier but also creates certain limitations. Take navigation, for example. The Global Positioning System (GPS) helps in all areas of human activity. However, this GPS chip is present in every device and reveals the whereabouts of its owner. But there is a solution – GPS signal suppression can solve this problem.
Who needs to block the GPS signal
Everyone who does not want to disclose their current location. Initially, the GPS signal suppression module was developed for government officials. The goal was simple – to protect employees from tracking. When turned on, the device effectively blocks all GPS chips. In smartphones, autonomous beacons, and trackers. The device proved to be excellent in operation and quickly attracted the interest of ordinary citizens.
Employees of companies whose management likes to monitor the location of staff prefer to block the signal. Husbands hide their location from wives, and wives from husbands. Even children, deciding to walk where parents do not allow, buy GPS jammers. And there is a category of buyers who purchase gadgets for fun. After all, it is not prohibited.
GPS Signal Suppression: How does it work
It’s very simple – any wireless communication chip (since GPS works over the air) occupies a certain frequency range. By the way, this range is initially specified by manufacturers and coordinated with the governments of countries that use this positioning system.
GPS operates within 2 frequency ranges:
- GPS L1: 1550–1600 MHz;
- GPS L2: 1200–1300 MHz.
The suppression radius ranges from 3 to 10 meters, depending on the signal source location and the signal suppression module. Also, the presence of obstacles can affect it. Additionally, the quality of the power supply can influence operation. GPS jammers are produced as USB drives and require 5 Volts DC and 0.5 A for operation.
It’s very simple to operate. The gadget is inserted into the USB port of a power supply unit in a room or car, and all devices with GPS lose connection with satellites. Everything is quick and very simple. And the most pleasant part for the user is the price. The gadget costs a penny.
