The Process of Upholstery Dry Cleaning

Many companies or firms offer sofa dry cleaning in Lviv. After all, upholstery dry cleaning significantly improves the appearance of any sofa or armchair. By cleaning with special devices and chemicals, old furniture will look like new. Many people today cannot afford to buy new soft furniture for various reasons. Therefore, cleaning furniture with special agents is the best way to restore its good appearance. Any chemical cleaning of soft furniture requires staff to exercise particular caution.

The cleaning procedure begins with a careful inspection of the soft furniture. During the inspection, it is necessary to clarify the brand of the material used for upholstery. But if the customer does not have this information, specialists will conduct a special test, which will resolve all questions. This will allow saving the sofa or armchair, which has already become very expensive for the owner. Deep cleaning of sofas at home involves several professional stages.

First, the furniture is thoroughly cleaned using a dry vacuum cleaner. This will remove dust and other small debris.

At the second stage, the dirtiest areas of the upholstery fabric are selected, where it is necessary to determine the appropriate chemical agent for cleaning. This will be determined through tests. Incorrectly chosen agents can change the color and structure of the fabric, which may leave an indelible stain in the center of the furniture. After applying the solution to the stains, they should be scrubbed with a special brush.

The third stage involves treating the entire surface of the fabric with chemicals. For this purpose, a brush is used to help apply the agent to the surface. The dirtiest spots remain in the solution. Reapplying the solution will help remove all stains and increase the exposure time of the solution on the surface.

Next, a special machine is used to remove all the cleaning agents from the fabric. After collecting the cleaning agent, the process is practically complete. But it remains to wait for the fabric to dry. For this, a drying centrifuge is used, which quickly dries the fabric, allowing it to be dry within 30-40 minutes. Drying should be done with a tool; otherwise, an unpleasant odor may develop due to moisture penetrating deep into the soft segment of the furniture.

Removing Stains from Furniture

Today, furniture dry cleaning not only allows you to remove stubborn stains but also to breathe freshness and brightness into the product. Regularly turning to professionals’ services provides an opportunity to ensure comfort and coziness for yourself and your loved ones, and to protect against various microbes that accumulate in the upholstery.

Initially, self-cleaning of furniture should be preceded by a thorough study of the properties of the upholstery material to prevent undesirable options of dry cleaning, including the use of strong stain removers. If there is a risk of damaging the upholstery with minor contamination through self-cleaning, it is better to use a regular vacuum cleaner and not to use chemical reagents under any circumstances.

If you need to remove lipstick or ink stains, treat the contaminated area with a weak alcohol solution, then rinse with water. Velour upholstery material requires special attention during cleaning. To remove stains from it, use a damp sponge soaked in a soapy solution. After that, it is recommended to dry the velour with a napkin. A fresh greasy stain can be eliminated by 70-80% if immediately after its formation, a highly absorbent towel is applied.

In case of dried or old stains, furniture cleaning should not involve mechanical impacts to avoid irreparable damage. In these cases, cleaning involves removing the stain with a 10% alcohol solution, then rinsing the stain with warm water.

If large darkened areas appear on the upholstery due to prolonged use, do not try to remove them with chlorine-based cleaning agents. In this situation, it is enough to wash the contaminated areas with a small amount of water with soap. After that, the wet upholstery should be wiped with a napkin and dried with an iron through a thin cloth.

To find out how dyes and upholstery fibers will react, and how much the fabric may shrink, soak a cotton ball with the reagent you plan to use for sofa dry cleaning, moisten the fabric wrapped around the back, and observe its reaction after drying.

It is important to know that there are new upholstery materials for soft furniture, for which wet cleaning is strictly prohibited. These fabrics lose their pattern during wet cleaning. In such cases, more careful dry chemical cleaning of furniture in specialized centers is recommended.
