Interesting solution offered by Apple to its fans. The external MagSafe battery pack for iPhone 12 series smartphones has been released. The new product costs only $99. Strangely, the American brand did not launch any advertising or presentations. The product simply appeared in the company’s online store. Perhaps, the market saw a trial batch that is destined to either explode the market or quickly leave it.
Apple MagSafe Battery for iPhone 12
The price of the 1460 mAh external battery MagSafe is justified by its functionality. The feature of the battery is that it supports reverse wireless charging. That is, on one hand, the external battery charges the smartphone. On the other hand, the connected iPhone 12 via cable charges the external battery. The solution is very interesting, convenient, and practical.
Discussions about the new product have already started on social networks. Some buyers are happy with this solution. But there are also opponents of the Apple MagSafe battery. According to dissatisfied consumers, the price of the external battery is seriously inflated. For comparison, an Anker MagSafe equivalent with a capacity of 5000 mAh costs only $40.
Only a few users have noticed that the Anker can deliver a power of 5 W and does not support reverse wireless charging. Apple MagSafe, on the other hand, delivers up to 20 W, and wireless charging works in both directions.
Apple MagSafe for iPhone 12 – Limitations
The technology of the external battery’s operation involves several restrictions. Firstly, iOS 14.7 is required. Secondly, charging from the main iPhone 12 battery will only occur if the phone is charged to 80% or higher. Thirdly, for the recursive charging of the Apple MagSafe battery to work, the power supply must deliver a genuine 20 W.
Despite these numerous restrictions, the new product looks very interesting. An external battery is always convenient. It’s easier to carry a battery with you than to search for an outlet to charge your smartphone in the most inconvenient places.
