Battle Royale Debuts in Call of Duty Online

The popular Chinese project Call of Duty: Online has delighted its fans with the Battle Royale mode. All interested players are invited to try out the battle on dedicated servers. The popular mode has recently gained new life, so it is not surprising that Tencent is already calculating the revenue that the new feature will bring.

Let us recall that the prototype of the user mode “Battle Royale” was inspired by a film by Japanese director Kinji Fukasaku of the same name. The dystopian story from the Land of the Rising Sun depicts a battle among unruly students for survival within a set time on an uninhabited island. With a budget of 4.5 million dollars, the film has been profitable for two decades and is considered a cinematic masterpiece worldwide.

Battle Royale

In Call of Duty: Online, “Battle Royale” looks just as interesting. The storyline is built from a first-person perspective, where players are offered to experience everything firsthand. According to a review leaked online, players are transported to an abandoned city via special elevators emerging from underground. Unlike the film’s plot, participants are without backpacks with supplies and weapons. Therefore, the primary survival task is to find weapons. Once a pistol or rifle is acquired, obtaining other gear becomes much easier.

According to the developers’ storyline, Call of Duty: Online is not aimed at luring fans of the famous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. into the battlefield. The map where battles take place gradually shrinks, forcing players into an arena where they must fight and prove their superiority in “Battle Royale”.
