HBO announced the latest trailer for the new fantasy series His Dark Materials. The premiere is scheduled for November 3, 2019. The series is an adaptation of Philip Pullman’s eponymous trilogy. As is known, the author has three books: Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass.

The series is set in a steampunk style, where science, religion, and magic intertwine easily. According to the plot, all people have daemons. These are animals that contain a part of a person’s soul. The author envisions many worlds that intersect with each other. Each location differs in characters and their abilities.
By the way, one of the writer’s books was already adapted into a film called The Golden Compass in 2007. Film critics panned the movie, and fantasy fans considered it a failure. Therefore, there is some caution towards the series. It is encouraging that HBO is handling the filming. Judging by recent films, the adaptation of His Dark Materials should be interesting.
The series consists of eight episodes. The director has already announced plans to shoot a second season. The screenwriter is Jack Thorne, known to fans of science fiction from the series Misfits.
