Network Storage Synology HD6500 in 4U Format
The equipment is designed for 60 HDD disks in 3.5-inch format. However, thanks to Synology RX6022sas modules, the number of disks can be increased to 300 units. The specifications state read and write speeds of 6.688 MB/s and 6.662 MB/s, respectively.
The Synology HD6500 is built on two 10-core Intel Xeon Silver processors. The RAM capacity is 64 GB (DDR4 ECC RDIMM). There is an option to expand RAM up to 512 GB. The platform’s feature is support for volumes up to 1 Petabyte. This is implemented on the Btrfs file system.
Network connectivity is provided by two 10-gigabit and three gigabit ports (2×10 GbE + 3x Gigabit Ethernet). If desired, the number of connected devices can be increased with a 25GbE SFP28 module and a Fibre Channel adapter. The motherboard has 4 PCIe slots – additional modules can be installed.
As is typical for server equipment, the Synology HD6500 in 4U format supports installation of a redundant power supply. LAN ports can be backed up, and there is an OOB port along with many useful server functions.
