Xiaomi will unveil its new Redmi Book 2027 laptop range in China on 27 October. The company has already confirmed the essentials: third-generation Intel Core processors on the Wildcat Lake platform, a 72 Wh battery and a redesigned body. The Redmi K100 phone, with a 10,000 mAh battery, launches the same day. Here is what we know about the laptops, what is still missing, and what it all means for buyers outside China.

What Xiaomi has already confirmed
The official teasers don’t reveal everything, but the main points are clear. The range will use third-generation Intel Core processors, known by the codename Wildcat Lake. That is a step up from last year’s Redmi Book 14 and 16 2026, which used the Core Ultra 5 125H. Both new models should have a built-in 72 Wh battery.
For the 14-inch version, Xiaomi has given specific battery figures from its own tests: up to 20.2 hours of office work and up to 1.26 days of local video playback. These are lab results. With a browser, messaging apps and above-average brightness, real-world endurance will almost certainly be lower. Still, 72 Wh is a generous capacity for a 14-inch laptop.
Redmi Book 14 2027
According to sources, the smaller model gets a 2.8K display and an Intel Core 5 320 processor. Refresh rate, panel type, brightness and colour gamut have not been revealed yet. Reports suggest the usual port selection stays: two USB-A, two USB-C, HDMI and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Redmi Book 16 2027
For the 16-inch version, Xiaomi’s product marketing director Ma Zhiyu confirmed one notable detail: a numeric keypad will be standard. If you work with spreadsheets and accounts, that matters more than it sounds. The rest is still at leak level: the same Core 5 320, dual fans with a 10 mm heat pipe and, most interestingly, replaceable DDR5 memory instead of the soldered RAM of the previous generation. If the leak is right, you could upgrade the memory yourself, which is rare for laptops in this class.
The company also promises better build quality, new bright colours and Super AI 2.0 features for working with other Xiaomi devices and handling office tasks with AI.
What we don’t know yet
The most important thing for a buyer, the price, has not been announced. For reference, last year’s Redmi Book 14 started in China at 6,499 yuan for the version with 16 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage, and dropped to around 5,499 yuan during sales. What the 2027 models will cost will become clear at the launch.
The 16-inch screen specs, weight, and memory and storage configurations are also undisclosed. Most importantly, Xiaomi is only talking about a launch in China. The company has said nothing about a global version.
What this means for buyers
If you are in the UK or elsewhere in Europe and are waiting for the Redmi Book 2027 in local shops, be patient. Redmi Book laptops historically launch in China first, and they don’t always reach other countries, usually arriving later if they do. You can buy the Chinese version through intermediaries, but you would have to live with a Chinese keyboard layout, a preinstalled Chinese version of the operating system and warranty complications.
Something else is more interesting. Wildcat Lake is Intel’s new platform for affordable, thin laptops, and Xiaomi is one of the first to show it in the mainstream segment. If the promised battery life holds up in independent tests, similar models from other brands with these processors will start appearing in European shops too. If you are choosing a budget laptop for study and office work right now, it makes sense to wait for the first reviews rather than buy last year’s model just because it is discounted.
One more point. The port selection on the new Redmi Books is decent, but two USB-C ports and HDMI won’t replace a full home workstation. A monitor, wired internet, flash drives and memory cards will still need adapters. That is true of any thin laptop.
