The Japanese brand Sony releases excellent smartphones that delight users with quality craftsmanship and functionality. But the manufacturer has a strange feature in its pricing policy on the global market. We already wrote that the Japanese set prices arbitrarily (they decide how much they want to earn). Then, literally a month after the start of sales, they sharply lower the price. This is extremely unpleasant for those who bought the phone at the initial price. And now again – Sony Xperia 5 II and Xperia 1 II have dropped in price. So far, the decline is only observed in England. But this incident will serve as a signal for price reductions in other parts of the world.
Sony Xperia 5 II and Xperia 1 II dropped in price
Without waiting for the “Black Friday” sale, the official dealer of Sony has lowered the prices of the new products on the UK market. Moreover, the discount was over 20%:
- Initial price of Sony Xperia 5 II – £800 ($1060). With a discount, it can be purchased for £600 ($800).
- Starting price of Sony Xperia 1 II – £1100 ($1450). It can be purchased for £800 ($1060).
Such discounts are pleasant, but not in cases where money has already been paid at the initial price for the smartphone. After such strange behavior of the Japanese in the market, the desire to buy their products sharply decreases. Although Sony Xperia 5 II and Xperia 1 II are quite successful for the company.
And the Japanese already have the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 III with the most powerful Snapdragon 875 processor. Again, everyone should expect a trick with the initial price setting followed by a discount. Overall, it’s very strange that the brand uses numbers in the smartphone names. Can’t they come up with bright and attractive names? The idea was taken from Apple, only they inflated the prices more than the Chinese company Xiaomi.
