Until 2019, it was believed that the largest park in the world was the magical kingdom of Disney. Unfortunately, the Guinness World Records needs to make some corrections. A themed park, Wonderland Eurasia, has opened in Ankara. The Turkey attraction includes 2000 rides. According to eyewitnesses, it is a whole city for entertainment, which cannot be explored in less than two weeks of a tourist trip.
Turkey Attraction
An area of 1.3 million square meters has been allocated for the amusement park—slightly more than half the territory of the Principality of Monaco. The park features a observation tower, roller coasters, jungles with dinosaurs—a classic Disneyland set. The builders did not stop there. The amusement park was filled with various attractions from around the world, concert stages were installed, and a fountain 120 meters high was built.
The Turkey attraction was built over 5 years with an investment of 256 million US dollars. It is no surprise that Turkey’s President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the opening. In his speech, the country’s leader called the amusement park a symbol of Turkey’s pride.
The park’s CEO, Jem Uzun, has already calculated the annual revenue for 2019. According to the official, net profit will amount to 8-10 million US dollars, assuming 5 million visitors over the year. However, the Turkish engineers’ union leadership believes this figure is slightly exaggerated. There are also many questions about the contractor. For example, ordinary steel was used in the manufacturing of metal structures, without special water-repellent coatings. Photos showing rust on the roller coasters are already circulating online. There were also issues with the foundations of some attractions, but the topic was quickly suppressed in the media. It is hoped that the engineers are exaggerating their concerns.
