African savannah, Himalayas, or a tropical island in the middle of the ocean – the concept of the game Far Cry. The essence is reduced to a lone wolf against an army of hostile individuals. Ubisoft did not disappoint fans and offered players Far Cry 5 to move to the American countryside. According to the authors’ plot, the player will have to fight alone against a self-proclaimed prophet who dreams of enslaving human civilization.
Developer Ubisoft released the shooter on all popular platforms: Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The release took place on March 27, 2018, so stores are awaiting fans of Far Cry 5.
New shooter Far Cry 5
The principle of “don’t fix what works” also applies to Ubisoft. The developers did not overhaul the engine but focused on the storyline, working on the appearance of the character. In Far Cry 5, the user is not limited in choosing the skin color, gender, clothing, hairstyle, and other aesthetic details of the hero. The appearance does not affect gameplay, but fans have long dreamed of gaining access to character customization.
According to the plot, the game takes place in Montana, where the false prophet Joseph Seed terrorizes the local population, preaching a destructive religion. The uprising of the people has been repeatedly suppressed by Joseph’s henchmen, and law enforcement agencies are unable to oppose armed gangs. The ongoing war has led to the hero, who is a deputy sheriff, having to neutralize the sect and arrest its leader.
To prevent the game from turning into a classic “Serious Sam,” players are offered a long storyline with positive and negative heroes who will influence the events of Far Cry 5. On the side of the false prophet are former military officer Jacob, lawyer John, and Gebbels in a skirt – Faith, who can persuade others. On the side of the main hero are Pastor Jerome, bartender Mary, and pilot Nick.
The world of Far Cry 5 will delight fans with picturesque landscapes and virtually unlimited territories. The map is divided into three regions, and the player freely chooses their own path. Destruction of buildings, collection of items, completing quests, hunting and fishing, and many interesting innovations will immerse the user in the world of Far Cry. By reading magazines along the way, the player can improve their skills, fly on a wing built from mountain peaks, and overcome obstacles using tools and knowledge.
Weapons. Far Cry 5 is filled with close and long-range weapons. Clubs, sledgehammers, pistols, rifles, grenades – everything the heart desires. Boats, helicopters, airplanes, jeeps, and ATVs – the game has a full range of transport. Players will need to master the controls, as quests are tied to transportation.
The game imposes rules
And don’t plan to defeat everyone alone again. In Far Cry 5, the liberator is encouraged to create their own resistance and put an end to the sect that has enslaved the American state. Again, there are quests. To build a team of like-minded people, you will need to complete tasks. The plot includes assistance from game characters. By the way, the AI of allies will delight the deputy sheriff’s assistant. Remember the game Lineage. By completing quests, the player will receive pets: a bear, a dog, and a puma. Such helpers will always come in handy in the fight against criminals.
The hunt for points for the resistance, which the player receives after successfully completing missions, is a bit stressful. Ubisoft assured that quests are optional. However, it seems impossible to create a team of like-minded people without them. Moreover, you will need to constantly read magazines and communicate with travelers to gather information.
Co-op gameplay in Far Cry 5 is undoubtedly a merit for Ubisoft’s product. It’s a pity that progress in completing missions is saved only for one user. But the second player gets money, skills, and weapons. It’s more fun to drive across the desert with a friend in a vehicle and shoot bandits from a mounted machine gun.
Overall, Far Cry 5 turned out to be a successful game. Colorful landscapes, unrestricted movement, and the musical accompaniment by composer Dan Romer will lift the player’s mood. Fans of the genre will enjoy the new release.
