It’s the year 2023, and the range of webcams is stuck in the 2000s. It’s rare to find a decent sensor with a resolution of up to 2 megapixels. Mostly, we are offered peripherals that record video in terrible quality. Professional-level video equipment has an excessively high price.

Apparently, American tech company Razer thought so too. They introduced a miracle device for streamers called Kiyo Pro Ultra. Equipped with extensive features and modern components, this webcam could become a best-seller this year. Its price is very reasonable – only 350 US dollars.

Its predecessor, the Razer Kiyo Pro model, was positioned against the Logitech HD Webcam C930. It showed good results in testing. With a smaller matrix (2 MP versus 3 MP), the Razer Kiyo Pro outperformed all competitors in speed and image quality. A weak point was the lack of 4K support for recording videos on YouTube in the best quality. With the release of the updated Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra, all these shortcomings are guaranteed to be fixed.

The new product features:

  • Sensor 1/1.2″. Yes, compared to smartphones, it’s nothing special. But for a fixed webcam – this is very significant. Considering that shooting does not involve capturing vast landscapes kilometers ahead. Think of it as a selfie camera. Portrait shooting.
  • Sony Starvis 2 sensor. It has a resolution of 8.3 MP and an aperture of f/1.7. The adjustable viewing angle (72-82 degrees). By the way, the previous model had a 103-degree view. Apparently, a wide angle did not attract buyers.
  • The camera can take photos at a resolution of 3840×2160.
  • Video recording is available in formats 4K@30 fps, 1440p@30 fps, 1080p@60/30/24 fps, 720p@60/30 fps.
  • For streamers, an interesting feature – it can record video without compression (4K video YUY2, NV12, 24 fps).
  • And a standard set: HDR, autofocus, face tracking, background blur – all these selfie features.

This includes colors, lighting, ISO, aperture. Everything is implemented like a professional digital camera.

And of course, the camera has a built-in microphone (16 bit, 48 kHz). Connection is made via the fastest USB 3.0 protocol. The kit includes a clip for mounting the camera on a monitor screen. And there is a standard tripod socket.
