In Xiaomi’s smartphone lineup, it can be easy to get confused. All these markings are not related to price categories at all, which is very annoying. But the buyer definitely knows that the “Mi” series and the “T Pro” suffix are flagship models. Therefore, the Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphone generates a lot of interest. Especially after the presentation, where highly demanded technical specifications were announced.
It’s clear that some parameters have been complicated by the Chinese. Especially the 200 MP camera. But there are pleasant improvements, which we will discuss in this article.

Review of the Xiaomi 12T Pro Smartphone – First Impressions
If this were a phone from the Redmi lineup, there would be fewer questions. But with a price tag of $775, the first impression is not very positive, compared to the 2021 model:
- The body has not received any design changes.
- The glass protection has decreased from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to Gorilla Glass 5.
- The fingerprint scanner has moved from the button to the screen (but this is a matter of preference).
- The RAM and storage capacities have not increased significantly.
- The promised wireless charging for flagships is absent.
- The macro shooting camera has worsened.
- The wide-angle camera is not fully developed.
- The USB Type C interface is implemented on the USB 2.0 standard (low data transfer speed).
With a $200 difference, the Xiaomi 12T Pro loses in many significant characteristics compared to the Xiaomi 11T Pro. And this is quite disappointing. The marketing move with the 200 MP camera is unlikely to change the situation. Among the advantages of the new model, only the following can be noted:
- Very fast 120 W charging. Charges the smartphone from 0 to 100% in 17 minutes.
- Good quality and convenience for shooting videos with the main camera.
- Matte finish on the back cover – the smartphone does not slip in the hand.
- High-quality sound of built-in speakers (they are separate, for calls a dedicated speaker is used).
- Higher screen resolution and pixel density.
- Faster chipset.
If you compare all the positive aspects against the negative ones, and then remember the $200 difference, the conclusions are unpleasant. Xiaomi 11T Pro owners have no reason to upgrade. And new buyers should consider the previous model, as there is nothing extraordinary in the new one. The Xiaomi 12T Pro smartphone is not the gadget we have been waiting for all year.
