The Ukrainian budget for 2018 allocates 150 million hryvnias for the construction of sports arenas. According to the Ukrainian Basketball Federation, six cities will receive funds for the construction of Sports Palaces. It is clear that the planned amount will not be enough for construction. Therefore, the shortfall will be covered by regional and city budgets.
Vinnytsia, Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and Cherkasy will each receive 27 million UAH. Exactly – 15 million hryvnias.
150 million UAH — funds for the construction of Sports Palaces
It is noteworthy that 11 Ukrainian cities have applied for the construction of Sports Palaces. However, due to budget shortages, the commission reduced the number of applicants in half. Experts note that the day is not far off when each Ukrainian city will have a modern sports complex ready to host athletes from around the world.
Projects for Sports Palaces include several playing courts for team sports. Also designed to accommodate at least 3,000 spectators. It is hoped that the sports complexes will be built. And the 150 million hryvnias will not end up in officials’ pockets, as it was before 2014. The Ukrainian Basketball Federation will oversee the implementation of the projects and help athletes obtain modern training complexes.
