The 5th season of the series “The Expanse” aired has caused significant confusion among fans of James S. A. Corey’s saga. In the 10th episode of the season, Alex Kamal, who was saving Naomi Nagata with “Bobby’s kid,” died of a heart attack. This could be acceptable if one did not know the plot in advance from reading the books. In fact, Amazon has killed the main character of the series “The Expanse.”
Why did Alex Kamal die?
It turns out, it’s much simpler – actor Kés Anvar (Alex Kamal) became a victim of social media. Some woman filed a police report claiming that the actor harassed her via Twitter. Instead of investigating the situation, Amazon’s management simply decided to fire the actor. And to avoid disrupting the series, diverging from the book plot, Alex Kamal was simply eliminated. This looks wild, as there were many other options:
- Presumption of innocence. It was possible to defend the actor’s honor publicly. After all, what is written in social networks is not always true.
- Replace the actor during filming. Find someone who looks similar to Kés Anvar.
Problem of Season 6 of “The Expanse”
According to the author’s (book cycle) plan, three pairs appeared on the ship “Rocinante”:
- James Holden and Naomi Nagata.
- Amos Burton and Clarissa Mao.
- Alex Kamal and Roberta Dreyper.
Everything is developing very well. And it is very interesting for the reader and viewer. Thanks to this, on Rocinante, you can follow not only the developments in the world but also the relationships between the main characters. And this is very interesting. “Babylon’s Ashes” strongly resembles the first novel of the “Leviathan Awakening” book. By the way, Amazon probably agreed to film it because of this. As the book’s politics revolve around the S.V.P. (Marco Inaros).
By the way, Amazon also killed Fred Jones. Although in the book’s plot, he was severely wounded. But this is a minor loss, as he will be killed in the 6th book anyway. But the fact remains. It’s no longer interesting to watch the series, which from Season 1 to 4 captivated viewers and kept them glued to the screen without a second’s pause. It’s very, very sad that Amazon works so roughly.
