Since April 1, 2018, a campaign called “Doctor for Every Family” has been launched for residents of Ukraine. Ukrainians are required to sign contracts with doctors who, at the patient’s discretion, meet their expectations. The therapist needs to recruit 2,000 patients, the family doctor – 1,800, and the pediatrician – 900 children. In turn, the government has committed to providing medical professionals with compensation that will replace their salaries. The amounts seem elusive, and doctors themselves are not eager to boast about their salaries.
Doctor for Every Family
Ukrainians are not rushing to sign contracts with healthcare providers. A survey showed that most people prefer self-treatment and seek help through online recommendations. However, following the trends in medical development in the USA, which Uliana Suprun is trying to introduce into Ukrainian society, there are assumptions that pharmacies will stop selling medications without a prescription from a treating doctor starting next year. The “Doctor for Every Family” project will restrict access to self-medication with pharmacy drugs.
Among healthcare workers, real panic has begun. Competent doctors quickly gained patients. Agree, being treated by an expert in their field is a pleasure. For example, in Melitopol (Zaporizhzhia region), the outpatient clinic No. 16 doctor, Ekaterina Ilenko, was the first to reach the required number of patients. The girl is 27 years old! The conclusion is simple – in a city with a population of 150,000, there are simply no worthy doctors to entrust your health or even your life to!
In any field of activity, people trust professionals!
Dishonest doctors who hated patients, were rude, and made incorrect diagnoses, have ended up on the street. Former healthcare workers will have to learn new professions, as there is no time to restore their reputation and participate in the “Doctor for Every Family” campaign.
The remaining doctors, who failed to recruit the necessary number of patients, have turned into network marketing agents. Healthcare workers are running around the city, posting advertisements on apartment entrances, in stores, and cafes. We can only wish them luck, because in current Ukraine, unemployment is rapidly reducing the population’s survivability to zero.
