The Microsoft company surprised all fans of the third-person shooter genre by releasing the continuation of the Gears of War saga. The release of Gears 5 happened without fanfare or a festive fireworks display. This greatly surprised gamers, as the release of such games is usually accompanied by advertising.
Perhaps, Microsoft was shy about prematurely praising the game. And the developer wanted to see their creation from a different angle based on user reviews. Anyway, the game is worth it. Gamers immediately appreciated the novelty and started discussing it on social networks and themed forums.
Gears 5: open world
The first thing that catches the eye is the environment. How tired we are of those dark basements in Metro Exodus, where moving without a flashlight is almost impossible. Yes, in Gears 5, the storyline sometimes leads the player into dark rooms. But most of the time, the game unfolds in open spaces. Glaciers, sandy deserts, forests – a magnificent view around. Truly breathtaking.
Interestingly, the open world in Gears 5 is empty. There are few secrets along the way, not to mention enemies. But there are many secondary locations where simple but interesting missions must be completed. Of course, you can skip them. But completing tasks helps to modify the robot companion Jack. Later, at high difficulty levels, powerful modifications of the robot will aid in combat.

By the way, a fully upgraded robot can take down an entire army of enemies in minutes. Possessing a range of abilities, Jack can find and bring ammunition, flush enemies out of cover, paralyze at a distance, and make heroes invisible to opponents.
Gears 5: reference to previous game parts
The developers at Microsoft made sure that Gears 5 strongly intersects with previous parts of the game. And, to understand the plot, newcomers unfamiliar with earlier installments will need to study reviews of the entire saga. Fortunately, there is YouTube, and the problem is easily solved.
The developers managed to convey the storyline through the dynamics of the characters’ relationships. They were even given personalities and habits, which makes the game less dull. As a result, Gears 5 became much more realistic.

The game was released for Windows and Xbox platforms. And here, the developers did not disappoint. Graphics in 4K resolution, with 60 frames per second, immerse you from the first seconds into the story. However, to achieve realism on maximum settings, you will need appropriate hardware. But that is a secondary criterion.
