Souvenir products with a denomination of 0 Euro, issued by a German bank with the approval of the European Central Bank, are believed by experts to attract tourists and numismatists. The banknote is offered at 2.5 Euros, but experts predict an increase in value and recommend Germans make a worthwhile investment in their own product.
Regarding quality, Germans approached the matter seriously, using their own integrity. The 0 Euro banknote is printed on original papyrus, the same material used by Eurobank for printing regular money. Naturally, all security features match those of authentic banknotes, including watermarks. While it cannot be used for transactions in stores, it is possible that, as the souvenir product’s value increases, store owners may introduce the banknote into circulation to promote their goods.
The 0 Euro banknote features the German Navy training ship “Gorch Fock II,” a three-masted barque launched in 1958. The German bank announced the issuance of 5,000 banknotes, but experts do not rule out that the printing press may be restarted if demand for the 0 Euro banknote increases. It remains to be seen how the souvenir product sales will develop.
