The development of a new electromagnetic weapon called the railgun announced at the beginning of the 2000's caused a lot of grins on the part of representatives of the military departments of the nuclear powers. After all, laboratory tests in the United States, England and Germany proved to the world the insolvency of such weapons due to the high energy consumption.

Oddly enough, the spectator first saw a mobile electromagnetic gun on an American warship in 2009. In the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, a shot from a railgun destroyed Devastator. He, in turn, tried to destroy the Chephren pyramid in order to open access to the Star Extinguisher.

Most likely, after watching the movie about transformers, the Chinese military came up with a clever idea - to put the railgun on the Haiyanshan landing ship with a displacement of 7 thousand tons. According to experts, such a vessel of the Type 072-III project is capable of carrying the necessary equipment on board to create a powerful electromagnetic pulse.

Railgun - a tool that uses electromagnetic pulses to disperse a projectile. Compared to guns used to extrude a projectile by expanding powder gases, a blank in a railgun is part of an electrical circuit that accelerates between two contact rails.

It is not yet known for certain which energy source the Chinese plan to use in the trials. There are suggestions that the ship is equipped with a nuclear reactor capable of more than compensating for the cost of electricity for an electromagnetic gun.
