A number of Indian brands have signed agreements with Google to manufacture the first smartphones running Android Oreo operating system. The price of these mobile phones is set at $30, but experts do not rule out that the final retail price may increase outside the factory.
Launch of $30 Smartphones with Android OS
According to reports from India, the new device will be available in stores by the end of January. It is also possible that Indians plan to showcase the new $30 smartphone on Republic Day, which is celebrated annually on January 26.
Regarding technical details, only rumors are available so far. Even the processor chip is unknown in the media. Previously, Micromax, the factory planning to showcase the device first, mentioned purchasing inexpensive MediaTek chips, but later it was revealed that Android Oreo performs adequately with Qualcomm chips.
Budget smartphones are aimed at developing third-world countries. However, the list of exporters includes the United States of America, which seems unusual. The attractive price, full Android experience, and 4G LTE support have prompted future owners to reconsider their options. It is also possible that this appealing smartphone will take a share of the market from major players in the mobile industry.
