The International Stratigraphy Commission has made a unanimous decision and approved the name for the period of time we are living in. The period that began 4200 years ago and continues to this day has been named the Meghalayian Age.

Dating the history of the planet is established according to the geochronological scale. And the scale relies on stratigraphy. For those who do not understand – on the alternation of rock layers. Although the terms may cause confusion among uninformed individuals (which is 99.9% of the entire Earth’s population), within the scientific community everything is logical and consistent.
Meghalayian Age
If we delve into history, humanity has lived in the Holocene epoch. More precisely, in the Quaternary period of the Cenozoic era. To avoid confusing themselves with terminology, scientists recommend that readers remember only the name of the age and know from which period it began. The name “Meghalayian Age” is given in honor of the Meghalaya Cave located in Indiana, USA. Americans established the start time of the drought based on sediment deposits of rocks. Researchers from Asia and Europe have hundreds of questions for American scientists regarding stratigraphy and Native American caves. However, US representatives are not in a hurry to share their results. The term “Meghalayian Age” appeared six years ago and still lacks a solid evidential basis. Therefore, we will have to be content with the opinions of experts and theory for now.
