The global community was concerned by news from Ukrainian chess players. Last week, the coach of the well-known Ukrainian grandmaster, Maria Muzychuk, made an official statement regarding a debt from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The information leaked to the media after reports emerged that the Ukrainian athlete did not attend the European Chess Championship.
According to the coach, Natalia Muzychuk – mother of the famous Ukrainian chess player, the Ministry did not settle the debt for the match against Chinese player Hou Yifan. Recall that in 2016, at the World Chess Championship held in Lviv, Maria Muzychuk was unable to defend her world champion title.However, the Ministry’s press service stated that Natalia Muzychuk’s claim was false. According to Deputy Minister Yaroslav Voitovich, all expenses planned for the chess players for the period 2015-2017 have been paid in full, according to the budget.
It remains only to speculate about the purpose behind the coach’s false accusations against the Ministry of Youth and Sports. And the public is also concerned about the next question – what was the real reason for missing the European Championship, where grandmaster from Stryi, Maria Muzychuk, was supposed to represent Ukraine.
