It seems that the mining service NiceHash will keep its promises and reimburse wallet owners for stolen bitcoins. At the exchange rate at the time of the server hack, hackers stole $60,000,000 from user accounts.
NiceHash compensates stolen funds
Recall that the beginning of December 2017 turned into a tragedy for miners – the coins earned by cryptocurrency miners were stolen from their accounts, stored in internal wallets. Instead of declaring bankruptcy, the owner of the NiceHash service took steps to restore the server and promised users that the stolen bitcoins would be returned.
The first promise from NiceHash was fulfilled by launching its own services, installing security patches on the server and website. The next step, which was positively received by miners, was a reduction in the amount and fees for withdrawing coins to an external wallet. The third promise, scheduled for February 2, 2018, remains to be fulfilled.
The owner of NiceHash stated that payments will not be made in full, but according to a special program that will allow all users to gradually receive compensation. The first step is 10% of the old balance for internal wallets registered before December 6, 2017. Payments will only be in bitcoins.
Users only need to join the “Repayment Program,” which is accessible in the “Personal Account” on the NiceHash website. The amounts missing from wallets at the time of the hacker attack will be displayed in the “Wallet” section. It remains to thank the owner of NiceHash for his honesty and to wish miners patience.
