The manufacturer of “strange” mini-computers, GPD, plans to release another of their creations to the market. This time, it is a gaming console. It features the design of the legendary Sony PSP. Japanese users won’t find anything to criticize here, as the console’s slide-out display is complemented by a hidden physical keyboard underneath. The new GPD Win 4 is interesting not only because of its compact size and resemblance to the PSP but also because of its hardware. This console can easily handle all demanding games.
Portable GPD Win 4 Console – Features
The heart of the console is an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor, which includes:
- 8 Zen3+ cores (6 nm, 2.7-4.7 GHz, 16 threads).
- RDNA2 graphics accelerator (12 compute units).
The IPS display measures 6 inches. The body is rounded, with removable analog joysticks, Hall sensors, a trackpad, and a fingerprint scanner. Power and network connectivity are via a USB-C port. Of course, there is a microphone, speakers, a headphone jack, and wireless interfaces. The full-sized keyboard does not include a numeric keypad.
A stylus will be included for touchscreen operation, which is promised to be added to the package. The console will run on the Windows operating system, most likely version 10. The price of the portable GPD Win 4 console is currently unknown.
