December 2021 posed some challenges for GSC Game World. After an unsuccessful attempt to create an NFT cryptocurrency for the metaverse (which was criticized by fans), the developers postponed the project timeline. There is speculation that NFTs were added to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 before this announcement, which contributed to the delay.
As it stands, the situation looks like this: the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for PCs is expected in early December 2022. Owners of PS5 will receive the game no earlier than January 2023. It is possible that the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World will further delay the shooter’s release. However, this is still better than the half-finished product that the development team presented for Cyberpunk 2077.
