The electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has released its branded USB drives. They are available in the company’s official store. The USB Flash Tesla 128 GB was first showcased in a video dedicated to the new 2021 Model 3 vehicle. The drive is designed to protect the vehicle from hacking and theft when the owner is not nearby. After the video was released, fans on social media convinced Elon Musk to start selling the USB Flash separately. And, in fact, this happened.
What is the Tesla USB Flash 128 GB
At Tesla, no one particularly bothered with inventing and manufacturing a USB drive. The basis was the SAMSUNG BAR Plus 128 GB module (MUF-128BE4 / AM). Its cost is $18 (best price on Amazon). It is a standard USB 3.1 drive with data transfer (read) speeds up to 300 MB/s. The Tesla 128 GB USB Flash will be interesting to brand enthusiasts and those who cannot afford to buy a Tesla electric vehicle.
In terms of technical specifications and price, there are more interesting solutions for the flash drive itself. For example, Transcend 128 GB JetFlash 920 or Corsair 128GB Voyager Slider X2. These drives demonstrate higher write speeds. Samsung (and Tesla) have a maximum write speed of 46 MB/s. Corsair reaches 90 MB/s, and Transcend up to 400 MB/s. There are separate read and write speeds. The higher the write speed, the faster (in time) you can transfer data to the drive.
