It is quite expected that the Chinese brand Xiaomi, being at the peak of smartphone sales fame, has decided to expand its device lineup. We have already seen this in the history of Lenovo, Samsung, and many other brands. Let’s hope that Xiaomi’s owners do not lose touch with reality. And they will offer relevant and in-demand smartphones at an affordable price. Soon, we will see the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro models with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1+ chip.
The new chipset is already being discussed among mobile device manufacturers. Initially, Samsung expressed interest in producing it on a 4-nanometer process. TSMC has also joined the production. And about future models (based on this chip), Motorola and Lenovo have already announced plans. Now, add US sanctions against China. And the outcome remains quite uncertain. Naturally, we hope for the best and look forward to new releases from all brands.
Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro — specifications, performance
From what we already know, the new models will feature a powerful platform, appealing to gaming and business enthusiasts. It is expected that each version of the smartphone will have several variations in RAM and storage capacity. It will roughly look like this: 8/128, 12/256, or 16/512 GB.
The operating system is clear — the latest Android with MIUI 13 interface. More information is desired about the display and camera module. Xiaomi tends to chase megapixels. But future owners will no longer be impressed by impressive numbers like 64 or 108 MP. Certainly, the optics will be more interesting and desirable. Otherwise, the company risks losing consumer interest in its products.
