Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) - Coming soon to 48 Gbps

Apparently, the new Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard is not destined, following the trend, to appear in 2024. Something went wrong. Technologists have already developed a prototype and are testing the wireless interface. And hardly anyone will wait 4 years to announce their achievements, as it was before.

Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be): development prospects

The new protocol still needs some work. So far, we managed to raise the communication channel at a speed of 30 Gigabits per second. Initially, it was announced that Wi-Fi 7 will operate at 48 Gbps. It is impossible to refuse applications, and there is still time to make adjustments. By the way, speeds of 30 and 48 gigabits per second have nothing to do with the intermediate Wi-Fi 6E standard. Its release is scheduled for 2021.

Naturally, manufacturers of network equipment, who recently presented their technology with Wi-Fi 6 to the world, will not be happy with the new standard. For any manufacturer, this venture is unprofitable. But there is one point that has already been voiced by Huawei's technologists. Only nobody listened to them. The crux of the problem is that the 5G standard can operate at speeds up to 10 gigabits per second. And modern Wi-Fi 6 has a ceiling of 11 gigabits per second. There is no logic. The meaning of buying new routersif a regular 5G modem works at the same speed. And the new Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard can help solve the problem.

In general, everything goes to the fact that the network equipment that supports Wi-Fi 7, we will already see on store shelves in 2021. And there is an assumption that Huawei will be the first to "shoot".
