Michael Zorc, the sports director of Borussia Dortmund, criticized the new plans of the Bundesliga for the 2019-2020 season. According to Zorc, it is unfair that all 6 group stage matches of the Bundesliga championship are played on away fields. The Bundesliga must find a compromise.
Understanding Michael is possible. After all, constantly traveling to matches causes the team enormous stress. Planning trips, preparations, transportation, hotels — all of this distracts athletes from focusing on the game. The same applies to Bayern, which rests at home.
Bundesliga: a worthy response
A representative of the DFL (German Football League) responded to Zorc’s criticism. Borussia was reminded of last season when Dortmund hosted guests 5 times in a row at home. No other sports clubs’ representatives complained about Borussia’s home games. But as soon as the schedule was changed, critics appeared. It is not excluded that if Dortmund’s team is eliminated with a loss this season, the blame will be placed on the Bundesliga.
Remember, the first match is scheduled for August 16, 2019. At 20:30 local time, Bayern and Hertha will meet on the field. And already the next day (August 17), 16 other German football clubs will compete in matches.
