The Denon DHT-S517 soundbar provides high-quality surround sound thanks to a rich set of settings and a powerful wireless subwoofer. At least, that’s what the Japanese manufacturer claims. We have never had any questions for Denon. The brand produces reliable audio equipment at the entry and mid-levels.
Denon DHT-S517 – Soundbar with HEOS
Three-dimensionality and presence are ensured by support for Dolby Atmos technology in 3.1.2 format. The included subwoofer can complement the picture with powerful bass. Structurally, the Denon DHT-S517 consists of a array of mid-range drivers with two tweeters, a central channel, and surround sound speakers (aimed upward using up-firing technology).
The Denon Dialogue Enhancer function adds greater flexibility to the settings. Ensuring clear voice sound even during loud scenes. Additionally, the device offers several extra user sound modes to adapt the sound for movies and music content. The Denon Pure Soundmode will provide the clearest sound by disabling all digital signal processing.
Denon DHT-S517 – Maximum features with eARC and HDMI
The device supports eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) technology. This is an improved reverse audio channel. Through eARC, the original audio signal is transmitted via HDMI cable without compression, maintaining quality. This is possible thanks to the HDMI 2.1 specification, which significantly increases bandwidth.
It is also worth noting that eARC greatly simplifies volume control of the soundbar, for example, using only the TV remote. If the TV does not support eARC, control functions are delegated to CEC technology. If there is no free HDMI port for some reason, the soundbar can be connected to the TV via the digital optical input (S/PDIF Toslink).
