EagleRay: amphibious drone can fly and fly

Design engineers from the University of North Carolina invented a rather interesting device. Working on the creation of drones capable of flying and swimming, the technicians decided to experiment - they made a symbiosis of the aircraft and the swimming apparatus. As a result, an amphibious drone called EagleRay conquered the Internet and managed to gain hundreds of thousands of fans.

In fact, the engineers did not make a scientific breakthrough. Hard wing designs of this kind are known to designers and innovators. However, experts assure that the use of solar panels for self-storage of electricity by amphibians was applied for the first time. In addition, before diving into the water, the drone does not fold its wings. Accordingly, a mobile device is able to emerge from the water and immediately gain height.

In addition to solar panels, storage batteries, sensors and sonars are installed on board the boat, allowing the operator to navigate the terrain. While engineers from North Carolina were posting entertainment videos to the network, discussions on technical modernization of the universal unit appeared on technical forums. There are prerequisites that the military departments will take the development into service.
