The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept car continues to excite fans of luxury German automobiles. After showcasing the prototype in spring 2017, the corporation was flooded with calls and emails. However, it took a year for any news about the car to emerge from Mercedes-Benz’s garage.

Head of the division Tobias Moers announced the start of production of the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept. In an interview with Digital Trends, the representative mentioned that the concept car will be equipped with an 805-horsepower hybrid engine. However, there is no detailed information yet about the type of powertrain planned for the sports car.

In 2017, the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept was equipped with a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. Additionally, the engine worked in tandem with an electric motor that managed the rear-wheel drive. What surprises the developers will bring to Mercedes-Benz fans remains a secret. It is only known that to reduce the weight of the car, body parts are made from aluminum and alloy steel.

The Mercedes-Benz company always speaks in riddles, but releases worthy cars to the market, so fans can only wait for the first car off the assembly line.

According to the company representative, the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept sedan is capable of accelerating to “hundreds” in 3 seconds and reaching incredible top speeds on the autobahn. Since the concept is built on the MRA platform, it is expected that the transmission and electronic systems will be similar to those in the AMG 63 series models (C, E, S).
