Our dear Chinese friends from the Xiaomi corporation have once again demonstrated their tendency towards plagiarism to the whole world. We have already written about Mi Pocket Photo Printer, which was “copied” from LG. This time, Xiaomi introduced an innovative technology to the world – a television with a transparent panel. The new product is called Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition. One might applaud Chinese technologists standing up, but there is one issue.
Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition: plagiarism
In early 2017, the Korean giant LG Group already presented a similar product at CES 2017. However, it featured a Full HD resolution display. But that’s not the point, as the Mi TV Lux uses an identical technology. Later, in 2019, Samsung Electronics showcased its creation called The Window at CES 2019. Believe it or not, it is again a transparent panel television. Therefore, claiming innovation in Xiaomi’s walls should be shameful. The Chinese simply stole the idea and are trying to promote it under their name.
Who are transparent panel televisions aimed at?
Considering the price – at least 7000 US dollars (in China), the television is targeted at the business segment. Such panels are convenient to place in places with large crowds. For example, business centers, airports, medical facilities, and schools. Clearly, the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition is not suitable for domestic use. Ordinary users are interested in picture quality, not informative and elegant design.
It would be a different story if an American corporation like Apple released such a solution. Fans would immediately buy transparent TVs. After all, it’s a cool brand that elevates the owner’s status. Or even better, such panels would be introduced by Bang & Olufsen. Every magnate would dream of installing such a technologically advanced transparent TV in their office. And price would no longer matter. In general, the Chinese corporation should consider changing management, or they will not be able to continue producing quality budget smartphones.
