Warming up the video card with a hairdryer: instruction

The reliability of a computer graphics card, in comparison with other PC hardware, has always been questionable. Especially for those users who prefer to save on buying, buying budget products. I overclocked it with a proprietary utility - got a performance boost. That's just because of poor cooling, the chips tend to burn. But enthusiasts quickly found a way out - heating the video card with a hairdryer, with a probability of 70-80% will revive the chipset.

 

 

The essence of warming up a video card is to restore contact tracks between the board and the GPU. Working under load, at high temperatures, the solder liquefies and moves away from the contact track. 1. Thermal grease. The video card will have to be disassembled by removing the cooler and grille. When re-installing, the paste is applied without fail.

1. The adapter is mounted above the pan.
2. The hairdryer turns on at the maximum heating temperature (you have to wait 20-30 seconds until the household appliance accelerates to its maximum power).
3. Bring the nozzle of the hairdryer to the graphic chip of the video card at a distance of 9-10 mm (in the length of the 2 classic matchbox).
4. A hair dryer is driven along the edges of the chip for 40 seconds.
5. The video card is taken with forceps and flipped over.
6. Contact pads warm up on the back of the graphics chip, also 40 seconds.

After warming up the video card with a hairdryer, do not rush to perform cooling. Do not even tear the foil. Wait for the device to cool naturally to room temperature. After waiting 15-20 minutes, remove the foil, make sure that the chip has cooled down. Apply thermal grease, install the radiator and cooler.
