All new models (Sony 4K and 8K TVs) are equipped with HDMI 2.1 interfaces. To clarify, consumers should know that:

• HDMI 2.1 supports 4K image transmission at up to 120 Hz.
• The HDMI 2.1 standard guarantees stable signal transmission in 8K format at no more than 60 Hz.

In other words, in the promotional video where Sony claims 8K resolution and 120 Hz, the information is misleading. The TVs will operate at 8K at 60 Hz and at 4K at 120 Hz. Consumers need to understand what to expect.

Cognitive Processor XR

The volume of information (video streams) has increased, but the performance of most brands remains at 2015 levels. This has led to a rise in popularity of TV boxes. People buy set-top boxes to turn their TVs into monitors. This is foolish, especially from the manufacturers’ side. Sony decided to put an end to this. The only unclear aspect is licensing for video and audio formats. So far, only Dolby Vision support has been announced.
