The release of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, originally scheduled for the end of 2022, has been postponed approximately to 2023. To all fans who placed a pre-order, Microsoft is refunding the money spent. This can be interpreted in two ways: either the game will not be released at all, or the industry giant has decided to change its pricing policy. There is also an opinion that the game will be released but at a higher price. We just have to wait until 2023.
Microsoft refunds money for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
All players who pre-ordered the game received a notification from Microsoft with the following content:
Thank you for pre-ordering S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (Heart of Chernobyl). The release date has been changed to an unconfirmed future date. Therefore, the pre-order will be canceled. However, the funds you spent will be refunded. Stay tuned to the Xbox.com website for updates.
Notably, this is the second time Microsoft has postponed the release of STALKER 2. There is one nuance: before receiving the notification, it was known that:
- There will be no Russian localization in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
- The shooter will not be sold to residents of Russia.
It is logical to assume that the refund is somehow related to the political situation. Where Microsoft has contributed to ongoing global events. However, the company did not consider that most fans of the STALKER series are Russian-speaking. Clearly, after a drop in revenue, Microsoft will draw conclusions about its behavior.
