BMW Unveils High-Performance M5 Competition Version
It cannot be said that 625 horsepower is the limit for a passenger car. However, the Bavarian engine with a torque of 750 Nm easily accelerates the “M5” to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. After 7.5 seconds of acceleration, the BMW M5 will demonstrate a speed of 200 kilometers per hour on the asphalt road.
Speed enthusiasts were “disappointed” by the speed limiter set at 250 km/h. But for an additional fee, the manufacturer offers a racing package that removes the limit. The result is quite good – 305 kilometers per hour. Experts note that in Europe it is difficult to find autobahns where the “M5” can be freely accelerated to its limit, so increased customer interest in the racing package is not expected.
In the BMW M5 Competition, the ground clearance has decreased, and the springs and shock absorbers have become stiffer. On the other hand, 20-inch wheels and a transverse stability stabilizer promise the driver stability in handling at high speeds. Entering turns should not surprise owners.
Classic 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, which are used in modern crossovers, add sportiness to the BMW M5 Competition. The serial production of the updated “M5” is scheduled for July 2018, and the price is currently announced at 110 thousand US dollars.
