G50S - remote control for TV-BOX: overview, impressions
After overview of the cool G20S PRO remote control there was a desire to test an updated version of the TV-BOX control gadget - G50S. Logically, the novelty should be better. And the advantages were quickly found, but also the disadvantages appeared. Let's try to sort everything out on the shelves to make it easier for the buyer to navigate in the choice.
Remote controls G50S vs G20S PRO - features of operation
Long-term use of the G20S PRO led to the disappearance of the TV and home theater remotes on the sofa near the TV. Having trained the remote control in basic commands and configured the buttons, there is no need for native remotes. And this is a big plus for the G20S PRO. He's really good at everything:
- Works from any corner of the room.
- Fully manages the required functions.
- Voice search works great.
- There is a backlight that can be turned off.
- Nice body and correct location of the main buttons.
Long-term use of the G20S PRO remote control revealed one problem. If you do not turn off the convenient key illumination, then the batteries will last for 1 month. A set of AAA batteries from the GP Ultra brand costs $ 1. That is, the additional costs for the year will be $ 12. If the backlight is turned off, then it is inconvenient to use when you need to call up an additional menu or turn on / off the air mouse.
The G50S remote control does not have a backlight, and it can work on one set of batteries for more than 3 months (maybe more - the test was 3 months). There are a minimum of buttons on the remote control, but all of them are ideal for full control of a set-top box:
- The voice control button is highlighted in red and is located under the joystick.
- Excellent implementation of menu control and multimedia.
- I am glad that there are no additional buttons on the remote for calling programs like Youtube or Netflix.
Being in the same price range, when choosing between the G50S and G20S PRO, we gave preference to the second remote control. The backlight of the remote control has become a decisive factor. Even though the device mercilessly devours batteries.

To the features of the G50S, you can add the ability to control your SMART TV. You do not need ROOT rights to connect. All buttons work. But you may need to install Google Voice Assistant from Google Apps.
In general, the remote control is not for everybody. If before that the user controlled the set-top box or TV with their own remotes, then the G50S will be an excellent solution to all problems. But we recommend giving preference to a more advanced remote control - G20S PRO. This is the height of perfection!
