According to the vehicle owners, the truck is intended for rally racing. The GAZ-51 is driven by the crew of Erik Vaas and Kaido Vilu. To participate in the competition, the vehicle had to be modified. The metal body was replaced with carbon fiber to reduce weight. The body is equipped with reinforced safety bars to protect the drivers in case of accidents. The bucket-shaped seats are a pleasant addition for the crew, who spend hours inside the truck’s cabin.

However, the engine is the most attractive component of the vehicle. The V-shaped eight-cylinder engine accelerates the 47-year-old truck to 205 km/h. Owners keep quiet about the engine and electronics, but there is speculation that a turbocharged Mercedes-Benz engine is hidden under the hood. It is possible that after the exhibition, owners will share information to dispel rumors. Meanwhile, the GAZ-51 delights visitors who enjoy taking photos with the retro car and sharing them on Instagram.
