Intel Socket 1200: what are the future prospects

Having extensive experience in IT technologies, we drew attention to the recommendations of many bloggers offering to buy hardware based on Intel Socket 1200. According to the authors, this is an ultramodern equipment, which has a bright future. True, no one explains what such a bright prospect is.

 

 

Considering our experience in working with computers (we started with Intel 80286), there was a suspicion that they want to hold us again. Perhaps Intel’s policy has changed, and we’re just pushing it. But still, Intel Socket 1200 is associated with Socket 423, 1150 and 1156. The peculiarity of these chips is that they were quickly untwisted and also quickly forgotten. We call these sockets intermediate, since there were no super-technologies in their production, and the old chipset was taken as the basis. Plus, their peak popularity is 1-2 years. After that, Intel launches a more advanced platform and puts a long-term emphasis on it.

In fact, this is the same 1151 socket, which increased the number of pins (from 1151 to 1200) and provided with old processors. The vaunted 10th generation of Intel crystals is practically no different from the previous ones (9th and 8th). The chip is the same, no innovation in terms of production. Switching from any four-digit socket to 1200 makes no sense. Even if you are using the ancient 1155 with a 2nd generation processor. You just throw money away. It’s better to buy the outdated 1151, it at least has any parts and the price is half the price. And another 10 years, these sockets will be present on the market.

 

What does Intel have in the future

 

Given that computer hardware manufacturers are increasingly mentioning DDR5 memory modules, there is confidence that the new socket will work with it. It is not clear which connector Intel will stop at. More likely, it will be Socket 1700. The manufacturer plans to completely change the architecture of the platform in order to achieve increased system performance. It will obviously not be a semi-finished product like Intel Socket 1200. The only thing is not clear when we will see a miracle.

 

 

Fans of AMD products, in the next couple of years, have nothing to wait. The company has already released a powerful chip and will make money on it. Although, if Intel shoots with DDR5 memory, AMD may also start scratching their foreheads, how to cut off a piece of the pie in the IT market.
