Mecool KM1 Deluxe: review, specifications

With products from the Chinese brand Mecool, we have already encountered them in 2019. In short, we were very satisfied. The set-top boxes are built on a fast chipset, refined, and have an affordable price. Therefore, when we came across the TV-Box Mecool KM1 Deluxe, we had a strong desire to test its performance.

Looking ahead, this is a very interesting and functional set-top box for most user tasks. We cannot call it the best, as it is outperformed in functionality by Beelink and Ugoos (within their price categories). But it is very close to earning an award for impeccable performance.

In fact, it is the same classic Mecool KM1 TV-box, only with the “Deluxe” in the name. The differences will be discussed later, and they only concern the exterior finish of the set-top box. Technical specifications can be viewed here.

Now about the Deluxe. A pleasant feature that will appeal to all buyers is the cooling system. Everything is done so flawlessly that in tests, it is impossible to push the set-top box into throttling, even into the yellow zone. The first thing that catches the eye is the heat dissipation grille. It may seem that there is a cooler, but this is not the case. BUT! There is an option to install an 8-centimeter fan.

The chipset, on which the processor, memory, and network modules are installed, is pressed against an aluminum plate that simply dissipates heat through the lower grille of the case. Yes, the plate is as thin as foil. But its presence significantly improves heat dissipation from the hot chipset. And imagine if you install a fan – you can cool the TV box even further.

The fastest verdict on Mecool KM1 Deluxe

We mentioned this last time and will repeat it again: Mecool set-top boxes are good, but they have one unpleasant aspect that for some reason is not mentioned by bloggers. The wired network is 100 megabits. And all hope (when watching content in 4K format) is on Wi-Fi 5.8 GHz. The wireless module works well, but only with a good router. We use a mid-range router – ASUS RT-AC66U B1, which does not limit speed over the air and works stably. And if you want to buy the Mecool KM1 Deluxe, make sure you have a decent router.

The “Deluxe” version of the TV box is not available in all Chinese online stores. However, it is available on many European company trading platforms. We have a suspicion that this version was released by the Chinese for export and is not sold domestically. Perhaps we are mistaken.
