Another project hosting illegal content has left the global internet network. This time, the Portuguese portal MrPiracy was unsuccessful. Interestingly, the site was considered one of the best in the country and was popular among more than 3 million people. That’s a third of the country’s population.
The pirate video portal MrPiracy has ceased to exist
Considering the statistics of companies Netflix and Disney Plus regarding the number of new viewers, it’s easy to guess where MrPiracy’s problems stem from. It’s clear that licensed content requires payment. But not everyone is willing to pay tribute to the giants of the TV industry every month.
The MrPiracy project lasted 5 years. The site always offered quality and up-to-date content for Portuguese users. But starting from mid-August 2021, the portal faced problems. By early October, it became the final stage for the project.
An interesting move by the defeated hero MrPiracy
However, the site owners decided not to leave quietly (without saying goodbye). Instead, they did everything to ensure users did not lose the convenience of watching licensed content for free. All accounts were transferred to the domain PobreTV. The owners of the new site added the option to import settings from MrPiracy. This is convenient – no need to configure everything from scratch. Registration, import, viewing.
It is unknown how long PobreTV will delight Portuguese residents. But the hand of the “Big Brother,” which seeks to dominate all video services, is already clearly visible. The goal is clear – business, nothing personal.
