If you want to make money, and not talk about the lack of income, you will have to buy at least 2 TB NVMe drive. At this stage, there is disagreement. Initially, it was stated that mining can be performed on ancient PCs (socket 775 and above). This worked for small raft sizes (blocks of information). Now (at the time of this writing) 1 raft is 300 GB. And there are a great many of them on the disk (in terms of storage capacity). So these rafts need to be archived. And this is where we need processor power.

The Core 2 Quad processor can't get off. The minimum is Core i7 9700. Better yet, Core i9 10900. With 10 cores and 20 threads, the crystal can create 1 raft in 4 hours. With ancient processors, the same operation will take days, maybe weeks. And while you create rafts, filling the hard drive, the complexity of the calculations will increase again. And for the processor to work without interruption, you need RAM (from 16 GB and above).

 

Why Chia Coin Mining Laptops Are Not Suitable

 

Even the most powerful laptop has a throttling effect. This is when, when heated, the processor reduces the frequency of the cores by half or three times. And this is the performance of the system. There is no point in wasting time if you have a large personal computer at hand. A laptop is a fallback that can be used when there is no PC.
