We have already written about DDR5 RAM, which all manufacturers are preparing for the official launch by Intel of the LGA1700 socket. There are already experimental processors, but no motherboards yet. The news that appeared on the Austrian company Noctua’s website suggests that basic motherboards have passed certification.
What we know about the LGA1700 socket
So, the manufacturer of the coolest cooling systems for processors (referring to Noctua) made a statement on Twitter. The feature of the new LGA1700 connector is that old cooler models will not fit. But there is no need to despair. Brand enthusiasts are offered to get a Noctua mounting kit for the new platform. This kit will help to combine the cooling system with the LGA1700 socket.
It is still unknown how all this will be implemented. That is, the kit will need to be purchased or it can be obtained for free. The second option is possible, as there was already an incident where all Noctua cooler owners received free mounting hardware for the AMD AM4 platform. Hopefully, something similar will happen with the LGA1700 socket.
The mounting kit can be ordered in the third quarter of 2021. This means that we will most likely see a motherboard with the new socket in the summer of this year. Of course, this is currently about the Intel manufacturer. Considering that the priority for chip procurement is with ASUS, we will first see the ROG series on the market, again logically. We are waiting and watching Intel’s releases.
